Joel Jerome Macer Obituary

Joel Jerome Macer, better known as Jerome or Maceo, entered eternal rest on February 23, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born in Cambridge, Maryland, on November 22, 1955, to the late Dora M. Jackson and Joseph L. Perry Sr.

Jerome was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he obtained his Commercial Driver’s License and worked as a Truck Driver for Phillip Bailey in Finchville, Maryland, and for Mountaire in Millsboro, Delaware.

Jerome enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite hobbies included visiting casinos, playing cards, watching old Westerns, and cheering for his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. You could often find Jerome at the Stop Shop in Hurlock, Maryland, socializing and sharing laughs with friends.

In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by one sister; three brothers; his grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rhonda Macer; daughter, Elizabeth Daniels; son, Jerome Jones; stepfather, Keifford Jackson; siblings; Joyce Bonds, Keifford “Sam” Jackson, Nancy Jackson (Mike), Charlotte Butler (Raymond), Bonnie Rooks (Clyde), Dontra Wongus, Evangelist Natisha Wise (Elder Kyan Wise), Kurt Stanley (Georgia), JoAnn Perry, Theresa Rideout, Candice Brockett (Tyrone), Janet Jackson (Michael), and Olivia MacDonald (Antonio). He also leaves special children he raised: Orlando Brown (Sandy Demby), Melisha Brown, Sherri Jones, Towanda Gaskins, and Danyal Deshiell; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Dorothy and Albert Baynard, Floretta Austin, Drucilla Macer, Katherine Camper, Janet Henry, and Joan Roberts, as well as special friends, Roger Cornish, Bunk Murray, David Smith, and Marvin Thompson.
